EMPTY BENDING                          

Research in Empty Bending techniques (bending without the use of a mandrel), has resulted in their ability to produce a bend with the same thinning and ovality results as a boosted mandrel bend, down to 1D radius.

The resultant bend is almost indistinguishable from a mandrel bend.
